Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery New Cross is proudly located at 296 Queens Road, New Cross, London SE14 5JN. We’re nestled in the heart of the local community, just a short walk from New Cross Gate, Queens Road Peckham, and Nunhead train stations—offering easy access across London and the Borough of Lewisham.
Our beautifully converted nursery building features bright, open-plan rooms designed to inspire children’s learning and development, along with secure outdoor play areas, including a private baby garden and free-flow spaces for toddlers and preschoolers.
We are ideally placed to serve families across New Cross, Peckham, Nunhead, and the surrounding areas, providing high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Monday to Friday for 51 weeks per year, (closed for the week between Christmas and New Year)
🍞✨ Tasty Tuesday has begun in the most delicious way! ✨🍞
Our Explorers have been busy baking their very own focaccia bread! 👩🍳👨🍳
Our babies got stuck into the experience, using their little hands and curious senses to explore the ingredients. They poked, kneaded, pressed and rolled the dough, getting wonderfully messy along the way! 🤲🥰
They also had the opportunity to explore the different smells, colours and textures of onions, tomatoes and other ingredients, with plenty of support and encouragement from their grown-ups. 🍅🧅🌿
Baking isn’t just about making something yummy — it’s a fantastic sensory experience that supports fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, communication and curiosity, all while having lots of fun! 🌈✨
And of course… we can’t wait to see how tasty it turns out! 😋🍞

We are SO excited to launch our brand-new School Readiness Initiative — The Preschool Library! 🎓💛
Each of our Preschoolers has received their very own reading record and reward chart, helping us to build a love of books while encouraging those all-important early reading habits. 📖🌟
Here’s how it works:
📚 Choose a book from our Preschool Library to take home
🏡 Enjoy reading it together with your grown-ups
📖 Bring it back and receive a Reader Sticker! ⭐
🎉 Collect 5 stickers and earn an exciting sensory reward! 🫧✨
We want to make reading at home something that feels exciting, rewarding and special, while helping our Preschoolers develop their confidence, vocabulary, imagination and love of stories. 🥰
We can’t wait to see our little readers filling up their charts and discovering new adventures between the pages! 📚🌈

🇪🇸🧡 Our first Mono Monday was an absolute treat! 🧡🇪🇸
Our little learners had a fantastic introduction to Spanish, and we loved seeing their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day! 🌟
Mono visited all of our classrooms and shared the much-loved story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar — in Spanish! 🐛📖 Along the way, the children listened out for key Spanish words and began building their understanding of a new language.
🎶 We also had lots of fun learning Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Spanish!
🐛 We explored Mono’s bright orange fur and had plenty of opportunities for sensory exploration and interaction.
🗣️ Most importantly, the children had so much fun listening, repeating and having a go at new words!
A huge thank you to Jhuly and Nuria for making our first Mono Monday so exciting and engaging! 🇪🇸✨
We can’t wait to see what our next Spanish adventure has in store! 🧡

💧🔬 Waterproof Experiment in Preschool! 🔬💧
Today, our Preschool explorers became little scientists as they took part in a fun waterproof experiment! 🧑🔬🧪
The children tested different materials to discover which ones were waterproof and which ones let the water through. 💦🔍
Through hands-on exploration, our little scientists had the chance to:
🧠 Make predictions — what do we think will happen? 💧 Investigate materials — which ones keep the water out? 👀 Observe changes — what happens when the water touches each material? 🗣️ Develop language — sharing ideas, describing what they see and discussing their findings. 🤔 Think critically — comparing results and discovering answers together!
Experiments like these encourage curiosity, problem-solving and an early understanding of the world around us. 🌍✨

🍂✨ Welcome to our October Initiatives! ✨🍂
We’re so excited to introduce a fun-filled month of extra-curricular activities, with something special happening every day of the week! From languages and cooking to books, sports and dancing, our children will have lots of opportunities to learn, explore, create and grow. 🐒💛
🇪🇸 MONO MONDAYS
Our Spanish-speaking team members, Nuria and Jhuly, will be bringing Spanish to life every Monday across all our age groups! They’ll be joined by their cheeky monkey mascot, Mono! 🐒
👩🍳 TASTY TUESDAYS
It’s time to get cooking! Our teams will take turns leading cooking sessions with different classes throughout the month, creating their very own Monkey Puzzle Cookbook along the way. We can’t wait for some tasty treats! 😋🍪
📚 WORDY WEDNESDAYS
We’re getting stuck into the wonderful world of books! Once a month, a local librarian will visit us for a special storytelling session. During the other weeks, our different age groups will take turns visiting a local library and continuing their love of stories and books. 📖✨
⚽ THRIVING THURSDAYS
Our Preschool children will continue developing their physical skills with Sporty Minis! From football to athletics, our little ones will be building confidence, coordination and gross motor skills while having lots of fun. 🏃♀️⚽
💃 FEEL-GOOD FRIDAYS
What better way to head into the weekend than with a dance party?! Our toddlers and preschoolers will be getting their groove on with the high-energy dance sessions from ShakerKids. 🎶🕺

Our toddlers have been getting stuck into some fantastic maths and shape-based activities, and we’ve loved watching their little minds get to work! 🧠💛
From recognising and ordering numbers to counting, matching and exploring different shapes, every activity has been designed to make early maths fun, hands-on and meaningful. 🌈

🤲 Developing fine motor skills through picking, placing and using tools
