Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery New Cross is proudly located at 296 Queens Road, New Cross, London SE14 5JN. We’re nestled in the heart of the local community, just a short walk from New Cross Gate, Queens Road Peckham, and Nunhead train stations—offering easy access across London and the Borough of Lewisham.
Our beautifully converted nursery building features bright, open-plan rooms designed to inspire children’s learning and development, along with secure outdoor play areas, including a private baby garden and free-flow spaces for toddlers and preschoolers.
We are ideally placed to serve families across New Cross, Peckham, Nunhead, and the surrounding areas, providing high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Opening times: 7:30am to 6:30pm
Monday to Friday for 51 weeks per year, (closed for the week between Christmas and New Year)
🎨✨ Messy, colourful fun for our little artists! ✨🎨
Our under-2s had a fantastic time exploring cling film painting! 🖌️🌈 We placed colourful paint underneath cling film and invited the children to use their fingers and paintbrushes to move, swirl, squish and mix the paint around.
This simple activity was a wonderful sensory experience, encouraging little ones to explore colour, texture and movement while developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. 👆🖌️
There was plenty of curiosity, creativity and joyful discovery as the children watched the colours move and change beneath their fingertips. What a fun way to get creative without the mess! 💕🎨

Play Dough Fun! 🌈✨
Play dough is one of our children’s favourite pastimes—and for good reason! From squishing and rolling to cutting, pinching and creating, play dough provides hours of hands-on fun for children aged 2–4.
But did you know it’s also helping little minds and hands learn? 👐 Play dough supports fine motor skills, strengthens the little muscles needed for writing and self-care, encourages creativity and imagination, and provides wonderful opportunities to develop language, concentration and problem-solving skills.
So while it may look like simple play, there’s lots of learning happening behind those busy little hands! 💛

Our preschoolers have been getting their green thumbs ready today! 🌿💚 They’ve been busy planting our brand-new herb garden and learning all about how to care for their plants.
Following instructions carefully, they moved each little plant from its container to the flower bed, getting stuck in with some digging, planting, covering and, of course, plenty of watering! 💦🌱
And just look at the result — a beautiful flower bed filled with fresh, fragrant herbs! 🌿✨
We can’t wait to watch our herbs grow and see our little gardeners nurture them along the way! 🌱🥰

We’re starting with our wonderful mud kitchen! 🪣🥄 Using real utensils, pots and pans, alongside natural resources, sand and soil, our mud kitchen is fully equipped for messy, sensory fun and imaginative play. 🧑🍳🌱
We’re also getting our mud beds ready to plant some fresh herbs for the children to care for, explore and watch grow. 🌿💚

✨ Humanitarian Month: A Little Spa Day! 🧖♀️💆♂️
As part of Humanitarian Month, we’re taking each week in August to celebrate different people — and this week was all about our amazing children here at Monkey Puzzle New Cross! 🐒💛
We treated our little ones to a wonderfully relaxing spa day, complete with foot paths, soothing hand massages, cosy relaxation spaces and refreshing ice-cold lemon water. 🍋✨
It was a day filled with calm, comfort and plenty of peaceful zen! 🧘♀️🌿 We loved creating this special little moment for our children and seeing the gorgeous smiles on their faces made the day an absolute success. 🥰
Because our little ones deserve to feel special, celebrated and cared for! 💛✨

🎶💃 Fridays are even more fun with ShakerKids! 💃🎶
Our setting has absolutely loved welcoming ShakerKids every Friday! 🌈✨ Their fantastic music and dance sessions are a wonderful way for our toddlers and preschoolers to develop their coordination, balance and confidence, while also learning about the importance of keeping active and healthy.
With the amazing Laura leading the sessions, the children are taken on a colourful, energetic adventure filled with music, movement, fun and plenty of laughter! 🥰🎵 It’s wonderful to see the children dancing, exploring and growing in confidence each week.
