How To Find Monkey Puzzle New Cross
Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery New Cross is proudly located at 296 Queens Road, New Cross, London SE14 5JN. We’re nestled in the heart of the local community, just a short walk from New Cross Gate, Queens Road Peckham, and Nunhead train stations—offering easy access across London and the Borough of Lewisham.
Our beautifully converted nursery building features bright, open-plan rooms designed to inspire children’s learning and development, along with secure outdoor play areas, including a private baby garden and free-flow spaces for toddlers and preschoolers.
We are ideally placed to serve families across New Cross, Peckham, Nunhead, and the surrounding areas, providing high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

🌳✨ Adventure awaits at the park! ✨🌳
All of our rooms have been heading out in their groups to explore our local park, and what an exciting learning experience it has been! 🥰🍂
A trip to the park might feel like a simple outing, but for our little ones, there are so many opportunities to learn, explore and develop new skills along the way!
👶 Our Babies
For our youngest explorers, the park is a wonderful opportunity to experience the world through their senses. 🌿
They can feel different textures, listen to birds and outdoor sounds, watch the trees move in the wind and discover the sights and sounds of nature. These experiences support sensory development, communication, attention and physical movement. 🤲👀👂
🧸 Our Toddlers
For our busy toddlers, the park is the perfect place to practise gross motor skills! Running, climbing, balancing, jumping and exploring different surfaces all help build coordination, confidence and physical strength. 🏃♀️🌳
It’s also a brilliant opportunity to develop language and social skills as we talk about what we can see, hear and find together. 🐦🍃
🎨 Our Preschoolers
Our preschoolers can really begin to investigate and make sense of the world around them! 🔍🌍
They can spot changes in nature, count objects, compare sizes and shapes, ask questions, make predictions and develop their understanding of the natural world. They’re also building independence, confidence, teamwork and communication skills as they explore together. 🌱💭
And, of course, there’s plenty of fresh air, exercise, laughter and fun for everyone! 💛
Because sometimes the very best classroom has no walls at all! 🌈🌳✨

Our Baby Room has been getting creative with some amazing sensory play set-ups! From colourful, textured worlds to messy mark-making and exciting small-world adventures, every tray has been carefully created to spark curiosity, exploration and discovery. 🌈👶

🎨 Discovering colours, shapes and patterns
🤲 Developing those all-important fine motor skills
💭 Using their imaginations and beginning to make sense of the world around them
For our babies, play is learning — and sometimes the messiest activities create the biggest opportunities for discovery! 🥰✨
We love creating invitations to play that allow our little ones to explore at their own pace, get stuck in and, most importantly… have FUN! 💛

🔢🐠 Maths Week in Toddlers! 🐠🔢
Our toddlers have been getting stuck into some fantastic maths-filled activities this week! 🌟
One of their favourites was our ‘Little Fish – Find the Number’ sensory tray 🎣🔢. Our little mathematicians loved exploring the tray using all their senses, discovering numbers, scooping, searching and having lots of fun along the way! 👐✨
It’s wonderful to see our toddlers developing their early maths skills through hands-on, playful learning — because maths is even more fun when you can dive right in! 💦💛

Our preschool team have been busy getting creative this week, putting together some fantastic outdoor-themed tuff trays for our little explorers! 🌟
From fascinating sea animals 🐠 to wriggly mini beasts 🐞, our children have been getting hands-on as they explored different terrains, textures and natural worlds — all from the comfort of our setting! 🌱✨

🌱 The small ways they play today become the BIG life skills they use tomorrow! 🌱
What might look like simple play to us is actually laying the foundations for independence, confidence and everyday life skills. 💛
🧵 Threading a bobbin onto string → learning the skills needed to tie shoelaces 👟
🥄 Making marks and squishing playdough → building the strength and coordination needed for using utensils and cutting food 🍐
🖍️ Big, wonderful scribbles → developing into letters, words and early writing ✏️📖
Every little movement, every attempt and every messy moment is helping our children develop the skills they’ll carry with them throughout life. 🌈✨

🌸 Holly – Nursery Manager
Holly joined Monkey Puzzle New Cross in June 2026 and has worked in early years childcare since 2015. She has always been passionate about supporting children’s learning and development throughout her career.
Holly holds a Level 5 qualification in Early Years Leadership and Management, alongside a Level 3 qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the Early Years. 📚✨
🌟 Ryan – Deputy Manager
Ryan joined Monkey Puzzle New Cross in October 2025 and began his childcare career back in 2012, achieving his Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
He went on to complete a Foundation Degree in Early Years (Levels 4 & 5), followed by a BA (Hons) in Education Studies in 2017. His passion for learning and development has continued throughout his career, and we’re incredibly proud that Ryan became a Qualified Teacher in 2022! 🎓👏
🐣 Leigh – Third in Charge
Leigh joined Monkey Puzzle New Cross in 2019, starting her childcare journey as part of our support team before working her way through various roles to become our Third in Charge. 🌟
Leigh’s expertise lies particularly with our younger age groups, and she plays a huge part in supporting our fantastic baby team. 🍼💕
We’re also incredibly proud to share that Leigh completed her Level 5 qualification in Early Years Leadership and Management in June! 🎓👏 ...
