Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery New Cross is proudly located at 296 Queens Road, New Cross, London SE14 5JN. We’re nestled in the heart of the local community, just a short walk from New Cross Gate, Queens Road Peckham, and Nunhead train stations—offering easy access across London and the Borough of Lewisham.
Our beautifully converted nursery building features bright, open-plan rooms designed to inspire children’s learning and development, along with secure outdoor play areas, including a private baby garden and free-flow spaces for toddlers and preschoolers.
We are ideally placed to serve families across New Cross, Peckham, Nunhead, and the surrounding areas, providing high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Here at Monkey Puzzle New Cross, our wonderful Early Years practitioners make it their mission to provide our babies with exciting sensory experiences every day! 👶💛
From watching the magic of bubbles floating through the air 🫧, to exploring different textures and discovering the natural world in our garden 🌿, our babies are given endless opportunities to use their senses and make sense of the world around them.
We also love getting creative! 🎨 Our little ones enjoy exploring a variety of materials, from soft, squishy play dough to fascinating textures such as sand. These experiences encourage our babies to touch, see, hear, smell and explore, all while having lots of fun!
Sensory play is a wonderful way for babies to develop their curiosity, confidence and understanding, while creating meaningful learning experiences through play. 🌈
We feel so fortunate to be able to give our youngest children these opportunities to explore, discover and learn through their senses every day. 💕✨

🌟 Little learners, big life skills! 🌟
It’s never too young to start learning the fundamental life skills that help us navigate the world around us. 💛
Over the past couple of weeks, our toddlers have been diving into the exciting world of spending, saving and making choices through their daily trips to our local supermarket! 🛒
In a fun and age-appropriate way, our Early Years practitioners have been introducing the children to the concept of money and what it is used for. Each day, the children took a small budget with them to the shop, choosing tasty and healthy ingredients to use in their cooking activities. 🥕🍎🥦
These trips sparked some wonderful conversations about healthy eating, different types of food and making choices. The children also had the opportunity to pay for their shopping and, importantly, ‘save’ some of their money to help with their friends’ shopping trip the following day. 💰
But the learning didn’t stop at the checkout! Along the way, the children were also developing their road safety skills, talking about how to travel safely and get from A to B while out in the local community. 🚦🚶♀️
These everyday experiences have provided a fantastic foundation for developing important life skills, while giving our toddlers the opportunity to explore, make decisions, build confidence and learn through real-life experiences. 🌈✨

🌈 Big feelings, little moments of calm! 🌈
Our children have been loving exploring their new self-regulation zones! 🥰✨
With comfy chairs, soft furnishings, emotion-themed cushions and lots of lovely books all about understanding and managing big feelings, our children now have a special space to pause, breathe and reset. 💛
Whether spending time here independently or enjoying a quiet moment with one of our adults, the children are beginning to recognise when they need a little peace and time to reflect on how they’re feeling throughout the day. 🌟
We’re so proud to see our children developing their emotional awareness and learning that all feelings are okay — and that there are lots of ways we can help ourselves feel calm and ready to carry on! 💕🧸

🌿✨ Garden SOS! ✨🌿
We’ve had an amazing time giving our Baby Room garden a magical makeover! 🪴💚 What was once a simple outdoor space has been transformed into a beautiful nature haven, packed with sensory experiences for our little explorers.
From our touch-and-feel tiles 👋 to our exciting instrument wall 🎶, twinkling lights ✨, natural resources 🌱 and lots of plants and forestry, there’s something new to discover around every corner!
Our babies can now explore, listen, touch, feel, see and experience the wonders of the outdoor world in so many wonderful ways. 🌳👶💫
We’re already looking forward to seeing where our imagination takes us next… which space will we transform next? 👀✨

Our Preschoolers have been diving into our Book of the Summer, Billy’s Bucket by Kes Gray and Garry Parsons! 🪣✨
The story follows Billy as he discovers magical worlds inside his very special bucket, inspiring our children to let their imaginations run wild. They had so much fun dreaming about the incredible worlds they would discover if they had a magic bucket of their own!
Using art materials, the children brought their imaginative ideas to life, creating colourful and unique masterpieces. 🎨 We absolutely love displaying their wonderful artwork for everyone to admire. It’s always a joy to celebrate their creativity, imagination, and hard work. We couldn't be prouder of our amazing little artists! 💙

Developing Motor Skills ✍️🌟
Every day is an opportunity to build the skills our little learners need to thrive! Across all of our age groups, we provide fun, hands-on activities that help develop both fine and gross motor skills, laying the foundations for confident, happy writers.
Our babies enjoy exploring with big, bold brush strokes, strengthening their gross motor skills through creative play. Our toddlers take on exciting pincer grip games and activities to build hand strength and coordination. In preschool, children begin copying and tracing letters, numbers and shapes, growing in confidence as they prepare for their next learning adventure.
